3 - Pay Attention to Your Logo’s Size and Placement

When ordering embroidered hats for your business, your logo’s size and placement are some of the most important aspects to consider. How your logo looks once embroidered on the hat matters more than it appears on paper.

For the best engagement with your customers, choose a bold and legible logo that makes your hat striking and recognizable. 

Ensure that its details are still visible at the size you’ve chosen. Ideally, baseball hats have their logos at about 2” tall 2” wide. But this can go as high as 2.25” or as low as 0.5”, depending on the logo’s placement. 

The most common place to add a logo on a hat is directly on the front of the hat.

But adding your logo to different locations within the hat also gives your brand exposure from multiple angles. Just ensure not to overdo it (2–3 are enough) because it may make your hat look cluttered and unprofessional.

Your message might be spot on, but if the text is ineligible, your marketing efforts will go down the drain. Using the right font ensures your message is clearly visible when the hat is worn.

Here are some tips for picking a font that will give you a minimalist, clean design:

Choose Sans Serif Over Serif Fonts

Serif fonts have little extensions at the ends (think of the small tails in letters written in Times New Roman). These fonts give off a traditional, formal look; like the kind used in typewriters and printed publications.

However, when used in custom embroidery, it can be difficult to replicate the tiny details using thread, and you may end up with muddled, ineligible text.

But, did you know that “sans” is French for “without?” This means that sans serif fonts don’t have the tails at the ends, giving them a cleaner, modern look.

Be Big and Bold

Remember, it’s a hat, not a billboard. You want your brand to stick to memory at a glance, even when the wearer is moving about their business.

Using a bold font that’s at least 1/4 inches tall ensures that each letter is visible and makes your design pop. Good to Know: We primarily use polyester thread because of it's vibrancy and durability. However, we do and can use rayon thread. Ultimately, the choice on which thread to use comes down to the exact color thread you need for your design.

For instance, knitted fabric is stretchy and moves a lot during stitching, affecting the evenness of your design. As such, they’re better suited for simpler, less intricate flat embroidery designs and embroidery patches.

Fabrics such as cotton, linen, rayon, or polyester blends are ideal for custom embroidery.

Their tight weaving and higher thread counts will keep them stable under the needle, allowing for more intricate embroidery designs.
